IOFS-COMSTECH-PARC three-day expert meeting on “Climate Resilient Wheat Crop improvement for food security”, with a special session on the “Afghanistan Wheat Issue: The breeding of nutritious and climate resilient varieties,” will take place on the 23-25 November 2022 in a hybrid format, in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Islamabad.
The event aims at reviewing the current challenges from the impact of climate change and biotic stresses and practices that have been used by countries. It also intends to serve as a platform for countries to develop long-standing and productive partnerships, where they would be able to discuss: the genetic potential of wheat through advanced biotechnological methods, novel approaches applied in plant breeding, strategies to tackle climate change, and transferring technologies from laboratories to farmer’s lands.
The special session on the Afghanistan Wheat Issue intends to discuss the introduction of new wheat varieties that may be utilized in Afghanistan with the intervention of the international wheat experts, in order to share best practices and discover possible collaborations through potential joint initiatives.
