25 June 2022
Upon the kind invitation of the Ambassadors of the Republic of South Africa, Arab Republic of Egypt, Kingdom of Morocco and Chargé de Affairs of the State of Libya in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) joined the celebration of the Africa Day, held on 24 June 2022 at the Nazarbayev University, in Nur-Sultan.

Mr. Abdula Manafi Mutualo, Senior Liaison Officer, and Ms. Maral Imanbayeva, Country Manager, were appointed by His Excellency the IOFS Director General, Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet, to represent the Organization at the event in reference, which is being marked in Africa in 2022 under the theme “Strengthening Resilience in Nutrition and Food Security on African Continent”, coincidentally in a year that it was is being celebrated as “IOFS Year of Africa”.

It was remarkable that His Excellency Mr. Mohammed Rachid Maanimou, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco in Nur-Sultan, while addressing the official opening had an important linkage of 2022’s theme for celebrating the Africa Day with the critical and pivotal role the IOFS is playing to ensure food security, sustainable agriculture, and rural development in the geography of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in general, and in African Member States, in particular.

It is worth mentioning that the IOFS is continuing to celebrate 2022 as its Year of Africa with several initiatives geared towards raising awareness on the need to safeguard sustainable food security in the OIC Member States through socio-economic development and systemic promotion of targeted programs related to agriculture, science and technology, humanitarian aid, trade, and intra-OIC food export.
