On February 25, Director-General of IOFS H. E. Yerlan Baidaulet held a virtual meeting with Mr. Ayman Sejiny, Chief Executive Officer & General Manager of ICD.
The meeting started by the opening remarks Director-General of IOFS along with a comprehensive overview of the IOFS programs and initiatives. One of these strategic programs is the establishment of the International Islamic Food Processing Association (IFPA). To date, IFPA was registered as a full subsidiary of IOFS under the English law-based Astana International Financial Center (AIFC) regime.
It’s worth noting that another important initiative of IOFS was presented, the “National Food Clusters Development in Cooperation with State Investment Agencies” that aspires to facilitate cross-border investment between the OIC member countries. Investing in agribusiness will increase food production, reduce food waste, and increase incomes, and thus improve food security.
During the meeting, the parties agreed to strengthen the cooperation between IOFS and ICD within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding, signed with the Islamic Development Bank Group in 2019. Moreover, parties agreed to create a task force between the brotherly institutions to activate common areas of engagement.
