IsDB collaborates with UNESCO toward promoting STI in Mozambique

The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) with the purpose of strengthening the Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) in the OIC countries for their socio-economic development, has published a Report titled “''Mapping Research and Innovation in the Republic of Mozambique”. The development of the report was maintained in partnership with Mozambique’s Government and UNESCO.

The mentioned report used the methodology of UNESCO under the Global Observatory of Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Instruments (GO-SPIN). It provides a comprehensive analysis of the STI in Mozambique and complements the national STI Strategy. Along with this, it increases the potential of producing accurate STI information for the decision-making process.

The agreement on launching the Report was signed by IsDB President, Dr. Bandar Hajjar, and H.E. Prof. Daniel Daniel Nivagara, Minister for Science and Technology, Higher and Technical Vocational Education, the Republic of Mozambique in the virtual meeting on February 18 2021.

The report includes strategic fields of investment: i) Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and STI Policy; ii) Oil and Gas, and iii) Agriculture. The report is available in English and Portuguese.
