On 28-29 October, the Director of Country Office of the Secretariat of IOFS Mr. B. Omarov held meetings with the following Deputy Heads of the Mission of the member states of IOFS: Mr. Abdelhamied Hany from the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mr. Faisal Almutairi from the Embassy of the State of Kuwait and Mr. Ahmad Saad Al-Sulaiti from the Embassy of the State of Qatar.
Mr. Omarov briefed the counterparties about the current activities of the organization, focusing on the developed projects and programs of the IOFS such as the Development of National Gene Banks, Water Management in Agriculture, OIC Food Security Reserves, Food Balance Database, and others. They discussed topical issues of bilateral relations between member countries and the Secretariat. The Director of Country Office mentioned the issue of contributions for the IOFS budget, as well as the upcoming events, including the Third General Assembly planned at December 2-3, 2020, in Ankara, Turkey.
The parties confirmed the importance of the IOFS as the OIC institution designed to support and develop the agricultural sector of the Islamic world and solve the challenges of food security.
