General Assembly: Delegation of Afghanistan

Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet, Director General of Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) held a meeting with Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of Afghanistan, Mr. Nasir Ahmad Durrani on the sidelines of the IOFS General Assembly, held in Jeddah on August 29.
Mr. Baidaulet expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Afghanistan for participating in the high-level officials’ meeting. The IOFS Director General also underlined the importance of sharing mission in facilitating interaction between the IOFS and Afghanistan.
During the conversation Mr. Baidaulet assigned the focal point from the IOFS on the work with Afghanistan.
The importance of B2B relation was noted by Mr. Baidaulet too.
On his part, Minister Nasir Ahmad Durrani thanked the IOFS Director General for inviting to participate in such an event and supported all efforts of the Organization taken to ensure food security. At the meeting, the Minister identified the focal point to work on food security in cooperation with IOFS. He also stated that 65% of Afghanistan’s land is irrigated, noting the abundance of seasonal vegetables and their potential for export.
Parties agreed to address the unresolved issues of transport and logistics, as well as the need to create social financial instruments with the help of Islamic institutions.
