General Assembly: Delegation of Cameroon

Director General of Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet held a meeting with delegation of Cameroon headed by His Excellency, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of Cameroon in Saudi Arabia, Mr. Iya Tidjani.
The delegation also included a Coordinator of National Projects on Food Security of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Jeanine Nkodo Ngono and representatives of Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development and Ministry of External Affairs of Cameroon.
Mr. Ambassador thanked Director General for the reception and noted that Cameroon played a large role in the establishment of Islamic Organization for Food Securityand was one of the first to support Kazakhstan’s candidacy for the post of a Chairman of the General Assembly, and the first to sign the Statute of the Organization.
Cameroon has enormous potential and experience to provide methodological assitance to IOFS in establishment of a Database. Cameroon also undertakes much work to develop a National Strategy on Food Security, the analysis for which is based on research of climate change in the last 50 years and statistical data in the last 20 years.
Cameroon is famous for not only its sports achievements, but also developed agriculture. Cameroon is often called “miniature Africa”, as it accomodates all of its diversity and climatic conditions. Cameroon is also a main food supplier in many struggling states of Africa. Considering the statements above, His Excellency proposed to open a regional office of IOFS in Cameroon.
Director General Mr. Baidaulet thanked the delegation for participation in the Second General Assembly, willingness of Cameroon to assist with Database creation and stressed an opportunity to collaborate through CILSS, the consent protocol with which was signed the day before.
