Food Banking is a powerful mechanism to address food waste and food insecurity issues in various regions across the geography of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
In pursuit of this vision, the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) and Food Banking Regional Network (FBRN) aim to promote and assist establishing successful food banks, where such systems are not in place, as well as improve the existing food banks across OIC Member States.
Hereby, the IOFS and FBRN with financial support of Islamic Development Bank(IsDB) conduct the Capacity-Building Training titled “Food Banking Regional Network Model: Establishment, Operations, Pillars to Focus” in Cairo, Egypt on 17-19 December 2023.
The event is to showcase the great experience of various Food Banks, provide the session for international donor organizations and multinational companies about the support to food banking activities.
It is to emphasize that the event will not only familiarize the best practice of establishing and operations of food banks, but practically allowing participants to build the business plan, pillars to consider in setting a food bank, field visit to Egyptian Food Bank premises. All these to accompany identified non-profit or private sector entities-beneficiaries to run food banking system in home countries.
