IOFS Delegation Explores Collaboration with Asian Development Bank

[Manila, October 19] - The IOFS delegation during a mission in the Philippines, led by Director General HE Dr. Dr. Masoud Almarri and accompanied by Dr. Shakhlo Atabaeva, met with the Senior Management Team of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) , including Qingfeng Zhang, Senior Director of the Agriculture, Food, Nature, and Rural Development Sector Office (SG-AFNR), and Yasmin Siddiqi, Director of the Agriculture, Food, Nature, and Rural Development Sector Office (SG). The meeting took place at the ADB headquarters in hashtagManila.

The focus of the meeting was to explore the potential areas of collaboration between IOFS and ADB, with a keen emphasis on knowledge sharing and capacity building of common member states (MS) and areas of interest. Additionally, the two organizations delved into potential collaboration frameworks across various programs, with specific attention to the Food Security Reserves, Food Security Index (FSI), humanitarian efforts, and food security governance.

Throughout the meeting, participants exchanged insights and experiences, highlighting the importance of strengthened cooperation between IOFS and ADB in addressing food security challenges and enhancing agricultural and rural development in member states. The discussions revolved around the need for innovative solutions to boost food security, as well as ways to leverage the collective expertise of both organizations to achieve sustainable development in the region.

Both parties expressed their commitment to enhancing their collaboration for the greater benefit of the member states.Following the meeting with the ADB Senior Management Staff, His Excellency Dr. Masoud Al-Marri had the privilege of meeting with Mr. Masatsugu Asakawa, the President of the Asian Development Bank and the Chairperson of ADB’s Board of Directors. The discussions with President Asakawa further solidified the commitment to fostering a stronger partnership between IOFS and ADB for the benefit of the region and its people.
