22 May 2024

Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and National Economy Minister Nurlan Baibazarov participated in the inaugural meeting of the Turkic Investment Fund's (TIF) Board of Governors in Istanbul, underscoring Kazakhstan's support for Turkic integration. The TIF, with an initial capital of $500 million, aims to enhance economic and commercial ties among Turkic nations. Baibazarov highlighted Kazakhstan's full backing for the fund's activities, anticipating its role as a catalyst for economic growth and development across participating countries. The fund will facilitate joint projects spanning infrastructure, renewable energy, agriculture, tourism, and IT, fostering economic diversification and job creation. Through TIF, Kazakhstan seeks to strengthen trade relations with Organization of Turkic States (OTS) members, leveraging grants, finance, and technical assistance for socially impactful initiatives. The establishment of TIF was proposed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in 2021, with OTS members Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan concurring to its formation in March last year.
