Qatar will host the three-day IOFS Strategic Commodities and Food Safety Forum organized by Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) under the umbrella of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality.
In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Director of Food Security Department at the Ministry of Municipality Dr. Masoud Jarallah Al Marri said that Qatar's hosting of this forum confirms its keenness to strengthen the food security system in Islamic countries and build its capabilities in this vital and important sector.
He explained that the forum will discuss ways to activate cooperation between Islamic countries and raise its food security capabilities, as well as development and increase in the production of strategic goods related to food security such as grain, and raise the level of trade between them and enable them to rely on themselves in their production.
He also noted that the forum will bring together Islamic countries producing and consuming food security-related goods, while some will attend physically and others will participate remotely due to the circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic.
