IOFS participates at the closing Ceremony of the 49th CFM in Noukchott, Islamic Republic of Mauritania

The Islamic Organization of Food Security (IOFS) Delegation, led by His Excellency Pr. Yerlan Alimzhanuly Baidaulet, the Director General, observed the Closing Ceremony of the 49th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) in Nouakchott, the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, on 17 March 2023, which adopted all draft resolutions, including the one on IOFS activities and programs for the due to come.
The second day of the CFM Meeting launched with the Ministerial Brainstorming Session on "Moderation: Key to Security and Stability," where the heads of delegation from Member States presented their observations and recommendations on how the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) should proceed to ensure that the Muslim world would be united on that front.
On the sidelines of the 49th OIC CFM, the Director General of IOFS and H.E. Mrs. Yolande NYONDA, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Gabon, discussed the possibility of joining the IOFS at the best convinience and highlighted areas of interest in matters relating to agricultural and food security. They also discussed the preparation the details of the next visit of H.E.D.G of the IOFS to Libreville - Republic of Gabon in the first half of 2023.

A fruitful meeting of H.E.D.G Prof. Baidaulet was held with H.E. Mr. Nabil Ammar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, where both officials discussed ways and means to improve bilateral cooperation and the process of monitoring the implementation of the Fifth General Assembly resolutions, which was held in #Tunis on October 10 and 11, 2022. They also talked about forthcoming events that Tunisia needs to be aware of up until the end of its present term.
On the margins of CFM, the IOFS Delegation also held several meetings with Member Countries, during which the ways and means to reinforce bilateral cooperation were discussed. 
It should be noted that in his remarks, H.E. Mr. Kanat Tumysh, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, highlighted the crucial role that the IOFS plays in ensuring food security throughout the OIC geography and called on member states to increase their support for the IOFS so that it can fulfill its commitments and continue to assist the Muslim Ummah in overcoming challenges, in accordance with previous OIC/CFM resolutions, he is also urged OIC members that have not yet joined the IOFS to do so, as soon as possible.

Also, IOFS DG, Yerlan Baidaulet and H.E. Amb. Isiaka Imam, the D8 Secretary General signed an MoU between the D8 and IOFS on cooperation in agriculture & food security on the sidelines of the 49th OIC CFM. 

Accordingly, both institution leaders decided to start developing a cooperative Action Plan to effectively implement the MoU. The action plan will be signed concurrently with the Second-High Level Forum on Food Security, which the IOFS will host on June 6 and 7, 2023, in Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan. Future cooperative activities were also discussed by the DG of IOFS and the SG of D8, including a high-level meeting on agri-food security, a pre-COP28 event in the United Arab Emirates, and the joint research partnership they had pledged to perform jointly.
