According to a new report prepared by UN organizations more than 51 million people in the Arab region are suffering from hunger.
By the investigations of Abdelhakim El-Waer, Assistant Director-General of UN FAO, the region needs to change direction in order to achieve the second Sustainable Development Goal on Zero Hunger.
If current trends continue, the number of populations suffering from hunger will exceed 75 million by 2030. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic will escalate the economical problems in the region.
