On March 10, 2023, H.E. Prof. Yerlan A. Baidaulet, Director-General of IOFS, paid a courtesy visit to the Saudi Embassy and met with H.E. Mr. FAISAL H. ALKAHTANI, the newly appointed KSA Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
H.E. Prof. Baidaulet started the meeting by congratulating H.E. Alkahtani on his appointment as the new KSA Ambassador in Astana and wishing him success in his new duties. He also expressed the hope that this new development would serve as a catalyst for further improving the excellent bilateral ties between Kazakhstan and the KSA as well as with the IOFS.
H.E. DG also gave an overview of IOFS foundation as the OIC specialized institution, IOFS Strategic Framework and IOFS Strategy 2031 with particular attention given to the achievements of the IOFS humanitarian programs, as well to two global programs, Afghanistan Food Security Programme (AFSP) and Africa Food Security Initiative (AFSI).
From his perspective, the new Saudi ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan, emphasized the progress being made by the IOFS to address food security issues and poverty alleviation in the OIC geography, particularly during times of food crises hardships that affect many vulnerable to food insecurity countries that are heavily dependent on imports of commodities and not self-sufficient on own agricultural production. In the same context, H.E. Ambassador pointed out the role of the hosting country for further development of the Organization within OIC region.
Before this productive discussion came to an end, two officials stated their desire to strengthen close relationship and continue their mutual coordination on issues of shared interest.
