The Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) is pleased to join the world over in marking the World Food Day, which is celebrated in all four corners of the world on 16 October every year.

The theme chosen for 2021, “Our Actions Are Our Future”, reminds the global community to strengthen their commitment towards better production, better nutrition, a better environment and better life for all of our societies. The chosen theme is also in line with IOFS’ concerns to ensure that the initiatives, programmes and projects being designed and implemented to ensure food security in our societies are to pave the way for a sustainable and zero hunger future.

Marking the day is also a moment of reflection on the unfortunate reality that many parts of the world remain extremely hungry today, meaning that millions of world citizens are deprived of one of the most fundamental aspects of human life, which is the availability of eatable food.

In this regard, the IOFS renews its calls on all its Member States to unite and strive toward food security via collaboration and partnership. From governments to commercial corporations, farmers, civic society, academics, and everyone, all relevant actors have a role to play in reforming agri-food systems as a global community.

Let’s all us remember today and ever that it is possible to empower every aspect of our agri-food systems to collaborate more fairly, sustainably, and inclusively.

 Happy World Food Day!
