The National Agro Allied Commodities Cooperatives Services has announced a partnership with the World Bank to launch a six-year, $500 million food security program in Nigeria. National President General, Queen Hajarat Adeyeye, revealed that the program includes providing loan facilities to smallholder farmers across the country to enhance food security and self-sufficiency in food production. She expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for supporting the empowerment scheme and commended the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, and the Managing Director of the Bank of Agriculture for their swift approval of fund disbursement. Adeyeye highlighted the Tinubu administration's efforts to create employment and boost food security, including distributing 42,000 metric tons of grains and 58,500 metric tons of milled rice to stabilize the market. She urged stakeholders in the agricultural value chain to open accounts with the Bank of Agriculture and emphasized a focus on youths, women, and the underprivileged. Additionally, she announced the establishment of an Agro-Allied Industrial University of Technology in Queen City, Ilu Ajerowaye, Ondo State, to advance mechanized farming and support food security. The university will cover 500 hectares and aims to address youth unemployment, generate wealth through agriculture, promote job creation, and enhance food sufficiency with modern technology and international market exposure.
