The Ministry of Municipality in Qatar is preparing to launch the National Food Security Strategy 2024-2030, which will align with the Qatar National Vision of 2030, according to Dr. Masoud Jarallah Al Marri, Director of the Food Security Department. This new strategy, announced during a workshop organized by the Ministry and the GCC General Secretariat, will build upon the achievements of the 2018-2023 strategy, which successfully boosted local agricultural production, diversified foreign trade sources, and developed a strategic food stock while emphasizing environmental sustainability. The workshop, attended by key figures including Eng. Fahad Mohammed Al Qahtani and Eng. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Fawzan, aimed to consult and exchange ideas among specialists and stakeholders from GCC countries to create a unified regional food security strategy. The discussions covered various topics such as local production, food trade, agricultural investment, private sector involvement, and emergency management, with the goal of fostering cooperation and creating resilient, sustainable food systems across the GCC.
