The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) called on Member States and humanitarian organizations to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to the Republic of Sudan, following unprecedented heavy floods and torrents that ravaged the country early this week, killing hundreds and holding up thousands in their homes. The General Secretariat expressed its grave concern over the humanitarian crisis resulting from the floods, which destroyed whole villages and cities, particularly in the north and east of Sudan. It also expressed its sympathy for the families of the victims, as well as support for those affected, and prayed for a quick recovery for the injured.
