Astana, Kazakhstan - 12 June 2024 – His Excellency Ambassador Berik Aryn, Director-General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), conducted a courtesy visit to His Excellency Mr. Faisal H. ALKAHTANI, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Kazakhstan, on 12 June 2024. The meeting, held at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) in Astana, aimed to enhance collaboration between IOFS and KSA in addressing pressing global food security challenges.
The meeting commenced with warm congratulations from His Excellency Mr. Faisal H. ALKAHTANI to His Excellency Ambassador Berik Aryn on his appointment as Director-General of IOFS, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the organization effectively.
His Excellency Ambassodor reaffirmed the full support of KSA for IOFS, recognizing its pivotal role in addressing food security issues worldwide. The Director General of IOFS expressed gratitude for KSA's steadfast support and underscored the importance of fostering a strategic partnership between the two entities.
Discussions centered on KSA’s ongoing support for IOFS to assist in its continuous projects and activities. Additionally, both parties explored avenues for collaboration, including potential involvement with the King Salman Relief Center(KS Relief) in humanitarian activities in countries facing dire need, such as Gaza, Afghanistan, and Yemen. IOFS expressed willingness to serve as an implementing agency for these programs, further strengthening their impact and reach.
Looking ahead, Director-General Berik Aryn informed his host about the upcoming Executive Board meeting and General Assembly, seeking KSA's active participation in these significant meetings.
As a follow-up, IOFS and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Kazakhstan reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration and expressed readiness to explore further partnership opportunities.
