On May 11th, 2023 a virtual meeting was conducted of the COMCEC Agriculture Working Group for “Ensuring the Sustainability of Agricultural Inputs to Combat Food Insecurity in the OIC Member Countries.” The meeting provided an opportunity to present and discuss the scope, conceptual framework and methodology of the Research Report, including the main findings of the selected case country analysis and the lessons learned. The meeting started with an emphasis on the importance of agriculture, as the leading sector in the majority of OIC Member States.
The IOFS, as a specialized institution of the OIC responsible for ensuring food security in the OIC Geography, presented on the organization’s accomplishments, plans and mechanisms towards “Ensuring the Sustainability of Agricultural Inputs to Combat Food Insecurity.”
The activities and efforts of the IOFS garnered positive feedback and support from the Chair of COMCEC, as well as the participants of the working group. Particular interest was given to the plans of IOFS regarding the development of the Vertical Farming Industry in the OIC Geography, as well as Food Banking Systems; with the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Turkey expressing readiness to provide full support to the IOFS.
