Representatives of IOFS, IsDB, and SESRIC joined forces today to discuss the ways and means on how to proceed in drafting the Strategic Plan for Ensuring Food Security in the Member States. The Plan is expected to be presented for the consideration of the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Food Security and Agricultural Development, during the first week of October 2023 in Doha, State of Qatar.
It is important to note, the main mandate of the Strategic Plan was adopted by the 49th Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), held on 16-17 March 2023 in Nouakchott, Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
Given the available resources and capacity of the respective organizations, the sides agreed to align strategies to provide the initial basis of the working plan. The meeting concluded with the participants agreeing to create a specific roadmap with achievable implementation mechanisms to ensure that food security issues of OIC Member States are addressed with due efficiency. A drafting committee was identified that will further identify the priority objectives of the strategic plan, and highlight challenges of common concerns of OIC Member States.
