IOFS Director General Meets with the Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Kazakhstan

Astana, Kazakhstan – 30 January 2024 – The Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) hosted a courtesy meeting at its headquarters in Astana, Kazakhstan, with Her Excellency Rosalba Lo Bue Antico, Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Kazakhstan. The meeting focused on establishing bilateral relations and exploring potential areas of cooperation, particularly in the field of food security and agricultural development.
 
In his welcoming remarks, IOFS Director-General, His Excellency Ambassador Berik Aryn, expressed the Organization’s commitment to advancing food security and promoting sustainable agricultural practices across the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation ( OIC ). He also highlighted IOFS’s readiness to extend its support beyond the OIC geography, emphasizing that the IOFS currently engages with non-OIC countries in order to advance the welfare of OIC Member States.
The Venezuelan Ambassador expressed her country's significant interest in the activities of the IOFS, particularly with the potential to enhance collaboration in the agro-industrial sector with OIC Member States. She highlighted her country's efforts to enhance overseas economic collaboration through activities, such as AgroAlba, the Alba Development Bank, university scholarships, and investment initiatives among others.
 
Both sides expressed a mutual interest in fostering collaboration to address global food security challenges and discussed opportunities for future joint initiatives. Ambassador Lo Bue Antico emphasized Venezuela’s willingness to cooperate with IOFS, particularly in areas aligned with the country’s expertise and strategic priorities. Both parties agreed to work together to develop new opportunities for cooperation and support sustainable agricultural practices, with a focus on improving food security in their respective regions.
