[Astana,Kazakhstan] - The Director-General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), H.E. Amb. Askar Mussinov, met with H.E. Alaadin Adbussalam Lehwaik, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Libya to the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the IOFS Headquarters on 01 February 2024.
During the visit, H.E. Ambassador Lehwaik extended his congratulations to Amb. Mussinov on his appointment as the Director-General of the IOFS and conveyed his best wishes for the success of the Organization in implementing its’ vital mission of addressing food security challenges in Member States.
The meeting offered an opportunity to review the current state of bilateral relations between the IOFS and State of Libya. H.E. Amb. Mussinov highlighted the successful working visit of the IOFS delegation to Tripoli in 2023, where they were graciously received by H.E. Dr. Mohamed Younis al-Menfi, President of the Presidential Council of Libya.
The discussions further focused on strengthening cooperation in the sphere of providing food security, with specific emphasis on enhancing wheat production, livestock breeding, and developing value-added supply chains for animal products. The parties underscored their commitment to deepen collaboration in key areas vital for sustainable food security. The Director General, H.E. Amb.Askar Mussinov also extended an invitation to H.E. Minister of Agriculture of the State of Libya to the upcoming 7th IOFS General Assembly in Astana, in August 2024.
