IOFS Director General Advances Food Security Partnerships During Visit to Kuwait

Kuwait City, December 2024 – Ambassador Berik Aryn, Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), conducted a fruitful visit to Kuwait, marked by high-level meetings with government and institutional leaders to advance food security and agricultural development.

Ambassador Aryn held discussions with H.E. Mr. Sami Abdulaziz Al-Hamad, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Zyad Abdullah Al-Najem, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and H.E. Eng. Nasser Mohammed Taki, Director General of the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fisheries Resources (PAAFR). The meetings focused on fostering strategic partnerships in agriculture, resource management, and innovative food security solutions.

A key highlight was the meeting with H.E. Dr. Rashaid Ali Al-Bader, Deputy Director General (Acting) of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development. Both parties agreed to prioritize high-impact projects in IOFS member states, emphasizing innovative approaches in vertical farming, hydroponics, biochar technology, livestock development, water management, and wheat production.

Ambassador Aryn underscored the importance of leveraging modern agricultural technologies to address food security challenges, particularly in arid and resource-constrained regions. Discussions also explored opportunities for capacity-building programs and sustainable practices to reduce food waste.

The visit reflects IOFS’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with member states and advancing sustainable development. Ambassador Aryn expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Kuwaiti officials for their hospitality and shared dedication to building resilient and innovative food systems.
