IOFS and AIFC Committed to Fortify Partnership to Advance Investment Opportunities and Humanitarian Initiatives

Astana, Kazakhstan – On 12 June 2024, the Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), His Excellency Ambassador Berik Aryn, held a productive meeting with Mr. Renat Bekturov, Governor of the Astana International Finance Center (AIFC). The meeting, held at the AIFC headquarters, focused on strengthening collaboration between IOFS and AIFC to explore investment opportunities and support humanitarian initiatives.

Central to the discussions was the proposal to sign a Memorandum of Understanding, outlining areas of mutually beneficial cooperation, and providing a legal framework to fortify the partnership between IOFS and AIFC. The Director General of IOFS proposed signing the MoU on the sidelines of the 7th General Assembly of the IOFS to be held from 26-27 August in Astana.

IOFS also expressed its intention to actively participate in major AIFC events, particularly in those with the participation of development funds from OIC Member States. Additionally, Ambassador Aryn extended an invitation to Mr. Bekturov to participate in the forthcoming OIC-UN biennial coordination meeting, to be hosted by IOFS on 22-24 July 2024, at AIFC premises.

In reciprocity, Mr. Bekturov invited the Director General to attend the Astana Finance Days on 5-6 September 2024, organized by AIFC. This event, under the auspices of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, will feature a meeting of development funds and financial institutions, offering an avenue for IOFS to explore potential financing for food security and humanitarian projects.

The meeting between IOFS and AIFC signifies a commitment to collaboration and mutual support in advancing humanitarian initiatives and exploring investment opportunities, contributing to sustainable development and food security in IOFS Member States and beyond.
