In response to climate challenges, Djibouti is transforming its agriculture, horticulture, livestock, and fisheries sectors through digital technologies under the Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP). This initiative, led by the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) and the African Development Bank (AfDB), introduces seven digital solutions to boost productivity and resilience. Key to this transformation are digital extension services providing local producers with real-time advice via platforms like IVR systems, SMS, and mobile apps. These services help bridge the knowledge gap for those transitioning from nomadic to settled farming, ensuring inclusive and accessible support. By integrating community feedback and focusing on gender inclusivity, the program aims to build a sustainable and resilient agricultural future for Djibouti, serving as a model for other vulnerable regions.
