Prime Minister Ali Asadov of Azerbaijan stressed the country's strategic commitment to ensuring food security during his participation in the Eurasian Economic Union's plenary session on Food Security in Minsk. Asadov emphasized that food security is crucial for societal health, well-being, and sustainable development, directly impacting economic, social, and national security stability. He outlined Azerbaijan's efforts to develop its agricultural and food sectors, highlighting a 3 percent increase in agricultural production last year, with livestock and crop production also seeing growth. Asadov noted ongoing support measures for food producers, including subsidies and tax benefits, along with initiatives to enhance plant and animal health protection. He also addressed climate change's negative impact on food security and Azerbaijan's contributions to the global fight against climate change, mentioning the country's hosting of COP29 this year as part of its strategy. Asadov expressed Azerbaijan's commitment to further cooperation with Eurasian Economic Union member partners on food security issues.
