The International Conference on Food Justice in Qatar, held from February 6-7, convened global experts to address the critical issue of international food insecurity. Organized by the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) under the auspices of Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, the conference aimed to tackle global food insecurity from a human rights perspective, in collaboration with various international bodies including the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the United Nations Development Programme.

Renowned experts, including Qatar’s Maryam bint Abdullah AI Attiyah, shared insights during panel sessions, emphasizing the urgency of addressing food insecurity amid forecasts that nearly 600 million people could face chronic undernourishment by 2030.

The conference coincided with alarming reports of hunger crisis in Gaza, prompting discussions on actionable solutions to alleviate suffering and ensure access to healthy food as a fundamental human right. Qatar's Minister for International Cooperation stressed the importance of collective action from governments, NGOs, and individuals to address humanitarian crises and urged journalists to amplify awareness to prompt swift intervention.
