Director General of IOFS Engages in Fruitful Discussions at the International Conference on Food Security in Samarkand

The Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) is proud to announce the active participation of its Director General, H.E. Prof. Yerlan Alimzhanuly Baidaulet, at the International Conference on Food Security held in Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan, on September 7-8, 2023.

During the first day of the prestigious conference, H.E. Prof. Yerlan Baidaulet had the privilege of engaging in substantive dialogues with several eminent figures in the field of food security.

1. Strengthening Collaborations with Azerbaijan:
One of the significant highlights of the day was H.E. Prof. Baidaulet's meeting with H.E. Mr. Majnun Mammadov, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The discussion revolved around IOFS's strategy and initiatives, with a particular focus on the Pilot Project for establishing a Regional Food Security Reserve. Both parties explored common interests and agreed to bolster their partnership significantly. Minister Mammadov emphasized the importance of a holistic approach to food security, encompassing the entire food production cycle, and discussed the Government of Azerbaijan's efforts to rehabilitate agricultural infrastructure in recently liberated regions.

2. Strengthening Ties with Tajikistan:
In another meeting, H.E. Prof. Baidaulet met with H.E. Mr. Qurbon Hakimzoda, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan. Both leaders expressed their commitment to deepen cooperation in food security and forge strategic alliances to ensure sustainable food production in the region. They also discussed issues related to transboundary pests and the growth of the sheep breeding sector. The importance of the Regional Food Security project was underscored, and both parties eagerly look forward to an enduring partnership.

3. Exploring Collaboration with Iraq:
H.E. Prof. Baidaulet also met with H.E. Saywan Barzani, the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Rome and Permanent Representative to United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. Discussions revolved around potential cooperation and Iraq's membership in IOFS.

4. Productive Exchange with Türkiye:
The day concluded with a productive meeting between H.E. Prof. Baidaulet and H.E. Mr. Ibrahim Yumakli, the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Türkiye. H.E. Mr. Baidaulet extended his congratulations on Minister Yumakli's new position and provided an overview of IOFS.

These discussions underscore IOFS's commitment to fostering international cooperation and advancing food security initiatives. The organization looks forward to building upon these productive dialogues to strengthen global food security and agricultural sustainability.
