Kazakhstan is aiming to boost its agricultural exports to strengthen its international market position and expand its supply chain. The country exports a variety of products, including livestock, honey, dairy products, sausages, and preserved goods. Key markets include the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, China, Iran, Mongolia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Türkiye. Notably, Türkiye is interested in importing Kazakhstan’s lentils, grains, and wheat. Despite a slight decrease in the total turnover of agricultural products to $11.3 billion in 2023 from $11.5 billion in 2022, Kazakhstan’s agricultural exports remain significant, accounting for about 7% of the total product volume shipped. The top five trading partners are Russia, Uzbekistan, China, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan, with trade turnover with Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states reaching $7.7 billion last year. Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov highlighted that Kazakhstan is among the top 25 global food exporters, serving 80 countries, with agricultural exports having doubled in the last five years to $5.4 billion. The country aims to double its export volumes by 2029 and is actively negotiating with the EU, Vietnam, Singapore, and Gulf States to broaden its export range.
