The UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has launched a new initiative aimed at enhancing the efficiency of agricultural advisory services to support national food security and boost agricultural production. Announced by state news agency WAM, the program focuses on improving the skills and capacities of agricultural agents through specialized training in areas such as soil and irrigation, crop production, pest control, and beekeeping. It features a combination of lectures, workshops, and field courses designed to translate theoretical knowledge into practical skills, enhance communication, and increase confidence among agents. Mohammed Salman Al-Hammadi, assistant undersecretary of the food diversity sector, emphasized that the initiative seeks to build agricultural capacity, improve local production, and support the transition to more sustainable food systems. The program will also involve creating an annual plan for agricultural guidance, monitoring and supporting farmers, and preparing technical reports to ensure continuous improvement and address farmers' needs. Enhanced communication between agents and farmers will be a key focus, with regular visits and meetings planned to tackle challenges and improve crop yields.
