International mediators have praised recent decisions by the warring sides in Sudan to facilitate humanitarian aid, a positive development amid ongoing conflict. The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has committed to cooperating with humanitarian deliveries to Darfur and Kordofan states, while the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) has agreed to open the Adre border crossing with Chad into North Darfur for three months. These measures, announced during talks in Geneva, are seen as critical for addressing famine and food insecurity in the region. The Geneva negotiations, which commenced without the SAF’s participation, aim to end the war and alleviate the humanitarian crisis. Despite these steps, violence continues, including recent RSF attacks that have exacerbated the dire situation. The U.S. and other mediators have called for immediate and unhindered humanitarian access and further negotiations to resolve the conflict.
