Ankara, Türkiye – On 19 September 2024, the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) participated in the 23rd Meeting of the COMCEC Agricultural Working Group officially commenced, focusing on the theme of "Developing Livestock Production and Fishery to Foster Food Security for Sustainable Agricultural Development in OIC Countries." This important gathering has drawn participants from 13 Member States, alongside representatives from esteemed international and specialized institutions, all dedicated to enhancing agricultural policies and practices within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) framework.
The meeting opened with a presentation from the IOFS, which highlighted its recent achievements in the livestock sector. The IOFS also outlined its strategic plans for the future, emphasizing collaborative efforts to bolster food security and promote sustainable agricultural practices across Member States.
Key discussions at the meeting will center on formulating effective livestock policies and addressing challenges in fishery practices. Participants will engage in knowledge-sharing sessions aimed at identifying innovative solutions and best practices that can be implemented to improve food security in OIC nations.The event is set to continue on September 20, with further sessions designed to foster cooperation and dialogue among Member States.
