Upon instructions of His Excellency Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet, Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), Mr. Abdula Manafi Mutualo, IOFS Senior Liaison Officer, attended the “Third Extraordinary Session of the Ministerial Council of the Women Development Organization (WDO)”, held virtually on 16 February 2022.
The major highlight of the Session in reference was the official unveiling of the first ever Executive Director of WDO, Her Excellency Dr. Afnan Alshuhaiby from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, after a well-deserved election.
The Meeting listened to statements of the newly elected WDO Executive Director, Member States, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), H.E. Amb. Hissein Brahim Taha, and participating OIC Institutions.
In this context, Mr. Manafi delivered the statement on behalf of IOFS Director General in which he underscored the relevance of WDO in OIC system, while welcoming the starting of consultations to enhance bilateral cooperation between the IOFS and WDO that is to be strengthened by jointly holding, for 2022, initiatives that are to give priority of “2022 IOFS Year for Africa” projects, as well as “Promotion of Economic Empowerment for Women” and “Women and Climate Change”.
It is important to note that during the statement, the IOFS Director General while congratulating Her Excellency Dr. Alshuhaiby and wishing success in discharging her important tasks, he expressed his willingness to meet her for consultations and signing a Memorandum of Understanding along with a Joint Plan of Action on the sidelines of the 48th Council of Foreign Ministers, scheduled to be held on 22-23 March 2022 in Islamabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
