Meat prices are rising on global markets
26 April 2024

World meat prices have been showing growth for the second consecutive month. According to the latest analytical report on prices presented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), prices rose by almost 2% in a month. The increase is noted for chicken and beef, while lamb, on the contrary, is experiencing a decline, as reported by the "APK Novosti" agency.

"The FAO Meat Price Index averaged 113 points in March, which is 1.9 points (1.7%) higher than the February level, with the growth continuing for the second consecutive month. At the current level, this index is only 1.7 points (1.5%) below the level of the same period last year," the FAO information states.

In March, world poultry prices saw an increase influenced by stable import demand from leading importing countries, which persists despite the high level of supply, primarily due to the reduction in avian influenza outbreaks in key producing countries.

World beef prices continued to rise in March, mainly due to increased purchases by leading importing countries.

World lamb prices, on the other hand, continued to decline for the second consecutive month, mainly due to a sharp increase in supply exceeding average seasonal levels, particularly from Australia.
