IOFS Regional Expert Meeting on the pilot project of Establishing Regional Food Security Reserve (RegFSR) embraced participants from OIC General Secretariat and IsDB Regional Hub Almaty.
Two-days event was also attended by experts of 6 sub-regional Member States including from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkiye, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.
Event was inaugurated by OIC Professional Officer Mr. Jakhongir Khasanov and IOFS Director of Programmes & Projects Office Dr. Ismail Abdelhamid who addressed on behalf of the OIC Secretary General H.E. Hissein Brahim Taha and IOFS Director-General H.E. Mr. Yerlan A. Baidaulet. Furthermore, guests were informed about IOFS Strategic Vision 2031, an overview of programs and preliminary findings on establishing the OIC Food Security Reserves (OIC FSR) mandated by the 8th OIC Ministerial Conference on Food Security and Agricultural Development in October 2021, Turkey.
During the event participants emphasized an urgency of conducting comprehensive analysis including financial, economic, and logistics components and wider promotion of RegFSR among sub-region countries by establishing alliances of regional leaders.
